The Union Health Ministry marked World Liver Day 2025 with a nationwide pledge to reduce cooking oil use by 10% and promote liver health. The event, led by Health Minister JP Nadda, emphasised preventing fatty liver disease through diet and lifestyle changes.
This year’s theme, “Food is Medicine”, underscored the critical role of nutrition in liver function. Nadda warned that fatty liver increases risks of diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. “The good news? It’s largely preventable and reversible,” he said.
The minister reiterated PM Narendra Modi’s recent appeal to cut cooking oil consumption. “This small step can significantly reduce non-communicable diseases,” Nadda added. Attendees took a pledge to adopt healthier diets and regular liver check-ups.
