The mystery surrounding the upcoming Marathi film ‘Devghar On Rent’ has deepened with the release of its intriguing teaser. Blending spirituality, mystery, action and suspense, the film promises to take audiences on an unusual journey where faith and human actions collide. Scheduled to release on September 25, 2026, the film will hit theatres across Maharashtra, along with Belgaon, Hyderabad, Indore and Baroda.
Ever since its title was announced, ‘Devghar On Rent’ has attracted attention for its unconventional premise. The newly released teaser adds another layer of intrigue, offering glimpses of a police investigation, mysterious incidents and a series of disturbing, blood-soaked events. What begins within a temple-like setting gradually develops into a tense mystery that appears to lead towards the doorstep of the divine.
Presented by Anandi Pictures Amravati and produced under the banner of Radhakrushna Production, the film is produced by Sachin Rode Patil and Poonam Chaudhary Patil. The film is directed by Swaroop Sawant, who is also associated with the much-talked-about upcoming Marathi film ‘Maharashtra Epstein Files’. The concept is by Poonam Chaudhary Patil, while Sanjay Navgire has written the story, screenplay and dialogues.
From its opening moments, the teaser establishes an atmosphere filled with uncertainty. Police personnel are seen investigating suspicious circumstances as the narrative moves through tense locations and unsettling situations. A blood-stained weapon, frantic movements and the visibly disturbed expressions of the characters hint at a crime mystery that goes well beyond a conventional spiritual story.
At the heart of the film appears to be a thought-provoking question about faith, karma and human actions. The makers describe the story through the idea, “Whatever the karma, all paths lead to the doorstep of the divine.” The film is also described as a story that stands “on the threshold between thought and irrationality”, suggesting that viewers can expect a narrative that constantly challenges the boundary between logic and belief.
The film features Nikhil Chavan, Ankit Mohan, Bhau Kadam, Shashank Shende, Ashwini Chavare, Vaibhav Chavan, Suresh Vishwakarma, Anil Nagarkar, Siddheshwar Zadbuke and Gautami Patil in key roles. Adding to the film’s cross-industry appeal, South Indian actors Garuda Ram, known for his work in ‘KGF’, and Shravan Raghavendra will also appear in significant roles.
The technical team brings together several experienced names. S. Sagar and Kabir Shakya have composed the music, while Kishor Dalvi has handled choreography. Cinematography is by Chaitanya Salunke, with Rohit Nagbhide composing the background score. The action sequences have been choreographed by Rakesh Patil and Kartik Dangri.
Dilip Kandhare has handled the art direction, while costumes are designed by Apeksha Gandhi Soni and makeup by Sujit Survase. Anuneha Ghodke serves as executive producer and Yash Sanas as production manager. Sync sound is handled by Akshay Londe, Sharma’s team has managed lighting, and Vijay Mhaske is the production head.
With its unusual combination of spirituality, crime and suspense, ‘Devghar On Rent’ has certainly made its presence felt with its first teaser. Whether the film can successfully unravel its central mystery when it arrives in theatres on September 25 remains to be seen.
