The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) will hold its 56th convocation on March 4, 2025, at Mahatma Gandhi Manch, IIMC, New Delhi. Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Railways, and Electronics & IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, will be the chief guest. The event will recognise academic achievements and mark the transition of students into media professionals.

Diplomas and Awards for Excellence
A total of 478 students from nine postgraduate diploma courses will receive their certificates. These students belong to IIMC’s main campus in New Delhi and five regional centres, Dhenkanal, Aizawl, Amravati, Kottayam, and Jammu. The institute will also present 36 students with medals and cash prizes for outstanding academic performance.
The convocation will bring together faculty members, media professionals, and special guests. It will celebrate the hard work and dedication of students pursuing careers in journalism, advertising, and public relations.
IIMC’s Role in Media Education
Founded in 1965, IIMC is India’s premier institute for media studies. It offers postgraduate diplomas in various fields, including Hindi Journalism, English Journalism, Advertising and PR, Radio and TV Journalism, Digital Media, and regional journalism courses in Odia, Marathi, Malayalam, and Urdu.
In 2024, IIMC achieved the status of a deemed university. It has since introduced two new postgraduate degree programs – Media Business Studies and Strategic Communication. These courses aim to equip students with industry-focused skills and prepare them for leadership roles in media.
