The Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron (1TS), comprising INS Sujata and ICGS Veera, concluded its goodwill visit to Cambodia, departing from Sihanoukville Port on Monday, 17 February 2025. The visit reinforced India’s commitment to regional maritime cooperation and bolstered ties with the Royal Cambodian Navy (RCN).

During the three-day engagement, Indian naval officials held high-level discussions with Cambodian counterparts, focusing on bilateral training, interoperability, and regional security. Senior Officer 1TS, Capt. Anshul Kishore, met Admiral Tea Vinh, Commander of the RCN, along with other senior Cambodian naval leaders at the Naval Headquarters in Phnom Penh. Meetings were also held with the Governor of Sihanoukville province and Rear Admiral Mey Dina, Commander of Ream Naval Base.

As part of the defence exchange programme, India handed over a Small Arms Simulator to the Royal Cambodian Army, enhancing training capabilities. The visit also included friendly sports matches between Indian and Cambodian naval trainees, fostering camaraderie and people-to-people ties.
A reception onboard one of the vessels was attended by diplomats, senior Cambodian military officials, and members of the Indian diaspora. Additionally, guided tours of the Indian ships were organised for the Indian community in Sihanoukville.
The visit aligns with India’s SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) initiative, reaffirming India’s role in strengthening maritime partnerships in Southeast Asia.
