Industry and Academia Unite at MIT Bengaluru
The ACM India Industry Day 2025 at Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Bengaluru, brought together industry leaders, researchers, and students to discuss emerging trends in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Mobile Communication. Organised in collaboration with ACM Bangalore Chapter, ACM IMOBILE Chapter (SIGMOBILE India Chapter), and the MITB ACM Student Chapter, the event facilitated knowledge exchange and industry-academia engagement.

Participants included professionals from various industries, research organisations, and students from colleges across Karnataka. The event provided a platform for collaboration and insightful discussions.
Dr. Gururaj H L, ACM India Eminent Speaker and Faculty Sponsor of the MITB ACM Student Chapter, emphasised the importance of industry-academia partnerships in AI and mobile computing. Additionally, Dr. Prema K V, Associate Director, MIT Bengaluru, reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to fostering student-led initiatives and technological innovation.
Expert Insights on AI and Mobile Communication
Dr. Shourya Roy, Senior Vice President – Data Science at Zepto and ACM India Executive Council Member, opened the session, highlighting ACM’s role in advancing computing research and professional growth.
Among the key speakers, Krishnasuri Narayanam, Senior Research Engineer at IBM India Research Labs, discussed the impact of Large Language Models (LLMs) on enterprise data analytics. Amit Saha, India Site Head at DocLens.ai, explored AI-driven optimisations in wireless communication and the future of 6G technology.
Panel Discussion on Career Opportunities
A panel discussion, moderated by Dr. Renuka Sindhgatta of IBM Research, focused on career paths in AI and computing. Panellists included Anbumunee Ponniah, Chief Architect at IBM India Software Labs; Prasant Misra, Senior Scientist at TCS Research; and Gururaj H L, Associate Professor at MIT Bengaluru. The session provided valuable insights into required skill sets and opportunities in research and industry.
