Residents in several parts of Mumbai’s eastern suburbs need to prepare for a complete 24-hour water cut this weekend. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that areas falling under its N and L wards will experience no water supply from 10 AM on Saturday, 26 April, to 10 AM on Sunday, 27 April. The interruption is due to important maintenance and infrastructure work taking place in Ghatkopar West.
According to BMC, the work involves installing two major valves — one 1200 mm on a 1500 mm water main near Sant Tukaram Bridge, and another 1400 mm valve at the inlet of the Ghatkopar High Level Reservoir. In addition, the team will carry out four cross-connection tasks and attend to leakages on 1500 mm and 900 mm pipelines.
Residents living in the affected areas are being asked to use water carefully and store enough in advance. BMC has assured that the maintenance is essential to improving water supply efficiency in the long run.
Areas Affected in the Water Cut:
L Ward (Kurla region):
Asalfa Village, NSS Road, Narayan Nagar, Sanjay Nagar, Samta Nagar, Khairani Marg, Yadav Nagar, Sangharsh Nagar, Mohili, and parts of Bhanushali Wadi.
