Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) has launched an online smart card scheme that allows senior citizens to travel for free on its bus services. The initiative aims to provide convenience and accessibility to passengers aged 60 and above by enabling them to apply for the smart card online without the need for physical visits to transport offices.
Eligible senior citizens can register for the smart card by submitting their Aadhaar details, age proof, and other required documents through the official NMMT portal. Once verified, the smart card will be issued, granting free travel across NMMT-operated buses. The digitalisation of the application process is expected to reduce waiting times and streamline access to the scheme.
This initiative is part of NMMT’s broader efforts to improve public transport accessibility in Navi Mumbai. By encouraging cashless and card-based travel, the scheme aims to enhance efficiency while providing financial relief to senior citizens.
