
In a landmark event at Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the Visitor’s Conference 2024-25, marking the beginning of a two-day gathering aimed at transforming India into a global knowledge hub. The President, acting as the Visitor for 184 Central Institutes of Higher Education, highlighted the significant role these institutions play in the nation’s development.
The focus was on the essential relationship between research and education, with the President urging academic leaders to encourage world-class research. She emphasized that India’s education system must aim for global recognition, not just for academic excellence but also for innovative contributions, especially in sectors like technology and biological sciences.

The President presented the prestigious Visitor’s Awards 2023, recognising achievements in innovation, research, and technology development. Notable awards were given to experts from Banaras Hindu University, University of Hyderabad, and the University of Delhi for their groundbreaking work in quantum technology, pharmaceutical research, and sustainable aquaculture.
Additionally, the conference delved into academic flexibility, international collaborations, and the national goal of making India a knowledge superpower. With her call for inclusivity, the President urged institutions to ensure no barrier – be it economic, social, or psychological—prevents any student from accessing higher education.
