Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) successfully concluded its Annual Toyota Safety Education Programme (TSEP) 2025 in Mumbai, held at the Sophia Bhabha Auditorium, Sophia College campus. The event marked the completion of TSEP’s activities for the year across Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai under the theme “Road Safety – My Right, My Responsibility.”

The programme aims to educate schoolchildren on responsible road usage, fostering a culture of safety and awareness. In 2025 alone, TSEP has engaged over 70,000 students and 600 teachers across 140 schools, reinforcing Toyota’s commitment to achieving zero road fatalities.

Addressing India’s Road Safety Challenges

India has the highest number of road crash fatalities globally, with more than 1,50,000 deaths annually. Road accidents are the leading cause of death for individuals aged 5-29 years. Launched in 2007, TSEP has reached over 800,000 students nationwide by integrating safe vehicle manufacturing, user education, and infrastructure improvements to address these challenges.

At the Mumbai event, Sudeep Dalvi, Chief Communication Officer, Senior Vice President & Head State Affairs at TKM, emphasised the importance of consistent education and awareness to build a safer future.

TSEP’s Approach: Educating Future Road Safety Leaders

The programme follows the ABC Approach:

  • Awareness – Educating children on road safety rules
  • Behavioural Change – Encouraging safe road practices
  • Campaigns – Driving initiatives that extend safety awareness to families and communities

TSEP also trains educators to integrate road safety into school curricula, ensuring long-term impact.

Students actively participated in poster-making, skits, songs, Mad Ads, and fact-based video presentations, promoting innovative thinking about road safety solutions. Schools have also established Road Safety Clubs to sustain engagement and peer-to-peer learning.

Recognising Commitment to Road Safety

An award ceremony was held to honour students, teachers, and schools for their contributions to road safety awareness. The programme’s evaluations show a significant increase in road safety awareness and behavioural changes among participants.

Since 2001, TKM has been involved in initiatives spanning education, environment, road safety, skill development, health, hygiene, and disaster management. These efforts have positively impacted over 2.3 million lives, demonstrating TKM’s long-term commitment to community development.

Through TSEP, Toyota continues to reinforce the importance of road safety education, equipping future generations with the knowledge and responsibility to make India’s roads safer.
