Hyderabad recently hosted a powerful conversation on women’s career growth as Avtar Career Creators Limited organised the 18th edition of SEGUE Sessions at Le Meridien Gachibowli. Centred on the theme #LeadHerRise, the event brought together professionals, industry leaders and inclusion advocates to discuss how women can reclaim and accelerate their careers in a rapidly changing workplace.
The conclave focused on key ideas such as reciprocal leadership, career reinvention in the age of artificial intelligence, and the growing role of women in Global Capability Centres. It also highlighted the importance of women supporting each other’s growth to create stronger professional ecosystems.
Addressing the audience, Dr Saundarya Rajesh emphasised the urgency of action. She noted that as India moves towards its 2047 vision, women cannot afford to be left behind in an AI-driven world. She underlined the concept of antifragility, encouraging women to turn change into strength by building skills, confidence and strategic career paths. She also stressed that collective growth is key, with initiatives like #GiveToGain promoting mutual support among women professionals.
The event saw participation from leading organisations across sectors such as technology, BFSI, healthcare and manufacturing. Companies including Genzeon, Google, and TVS Motor Company were among those represented, reflecting the growing commitment of corporate India towards diversity and inclusion.
Chief Guest Arijit Sarker highlighted the need for intentional leadership. He encouraged women to take ownership of their career journeys and embrace reinvention as a growth strategy. He also pointed out that strong networks and advocacy can drive both individual and organisational success.
A key highlight of the event was HackEquity, a challenge designed to generate practical solutions for improving women’s workforce participation. Genzeon emerged as the winner, recognised for its innovative and actionable approach.
Despite a strong Gender Parity Index in higher education, women’s participation in India’s formal workforce remains limited. Challenges such as career breaks, unconscious bias and lack of mentorship continue to hinder progress. SEGUE Sessions addressed these issues, reinforcing that building supportive communities is not just beneficial but essential for long-term change.
With over two decades of impact, Avtar continues to lead efforts in building inclusive workplaces, making initiatives like SEGUE Sessions crucial for shaping the future of women’s careers in India.
