Mumbai: As India faces rising temperatures year after year, staying cool inside homes is becoming increasingly difficult. Addressing this growing concern, Berger Paints India Ltd. has introduced its Home Cooling Paints Range, supported by a nationwide campaign titled ‘Garmi Gone, Thandak On’. The initiative promotes smarter and more energy-efficient ways to tackle heat at its source.
With climate conditions becoming harsher, homes are absorbing more heat through walls, roofs and structural gaps. Berger Paints has focused on this challenge by developing products that reduce heat absorption directly at the surface level. The Home Cooling range includes solutions such as Anti Dustt Kool and Roof Kool & Seal, designed specifically for walls and rooftops. Additionally, Tank Kool addresses the often-ignored issue of overheated black water tanks, which contribute to rising indoor temperatures during peak summers.
The company aims to offer a holistic cooling approach rather than relying solely on air conditioning. By targeting heat ingress at its origin, these products can help reduce surface and ambient temperatures by up to 10 degrees Celsius. This makes them particularly relevant for households in heat-prone regions as well as for families seeking cost-effective alternatives to high electricity consumption.
The ‘Garmi Gone, Thandak On’ campaign highlights the need for a shift in how cooling is approached in India. Instead of reactive methods such as air conditioners and coolers, Berger Paints is encouraging preventive solutions that are both sustainable and accessible. The campaign also reflects a broader trend towards energy-efficient living in the face of climate change.
Taking its efforts beyond urban households, Berger Paints has partnered with Smile Foundation to extend these solutions to underserved communities. As part of this initiative, the company will undertake a school beautification programme across 30 government schools in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Heat-reflective coatings will be applied to school buildings to lower indoor temperatures and create more comfortable learning environments for students.
This initiative is particularly significant as extreme heat often disrupts education by affecting attendance, concentration and overall well-being. By improving infrastructure, the programme aims to make classrooms more resilient to rising temperatures.
Speaking on the launch, Managing Director and CEO Abhijit Roy emphasised the company’s commitment to innovation and consumer needs. He noted that the Home Cooling range is designed to address heat at its origin rather than its effects. The campaign also aims to encourage behavioural change towards sustainable cooling practices while creating a meaningful impact at the community level.
As India continues to grapple with climate challenges, Berger Paints’ latest offering signals a shift towards preventive, efficient and inclusive cooling solutions for both homes and public spaces.
