The trailer and music of the Hindi film Fakiriyat, based on the life and spiritual journey of Guru Mai Rudratmika, were launched in Mumbai at Ravindra Natya Mandir, Prabhadevi. The film is set for release on 19 September 2025.
At the launch event, playback singer Anuradha Paudwal and actress Medha Manjrekar were present as chief guests. Fakiriyat features Deepa Parab in the lead role as the Guru and is directed by Santosh Manjrekar, who makes his debut in Hindi cinema with this film.
The story is based on the books “Chirut Jalti Hai” and “Adhyatma: Ek Vidroh, Ek Kranti” written by Anuja Janvalekar. The screenplay has been written by Anil Pawar, while the dialogues are by Anil Pawar and Anuja Janvalekar. The film is produced under the banner of Bhadrabahu Divine Creations LLP.
The film presents darshan of Mahavatar Babaji, Ramakrishna Paramhansa, Swami Samarth, Shankar Maharaj, Baba Kaal Bhairav, Baba Bhadrabahu, Haidakhan Baba, and Maa Kali. Alongside, it shows Guru Mai Rudratmika’s struggle to carry out her guru’s work. She received the directive to make the film in 2024. She moved ahead without prior filmmaking experience and completed the project with the support of devotees.
The trailer introduces Kriya Yoga and its link with mudrayoga and pranayama. It also underlines the guru–disciple tradition and the union of grace and action.
Music for Fakiriyat is composed by Praveen Kunwar with lyrics by Samruddhi Pawar. Songs are sung by Manish Rajgire, Manoj Mishra, Jasraj Joshi and Neha Rajpal.
The film has been shot at significant locations including Kashi Manikarnika during the Kumbh Mela and several unexplored regions of Uttarakhand. The cast also includes Uday Tikekar, Sandesh Jadhav, Vineet Sharma, Akshay Vartak, Nayan Jadhav and Anisha Sabnis, with a special appearance by Santosh Juvekar.
