Kurkumbh, Maharashtra, 12 March 2026: As part of National Safety Week 2026, Henkel India hosted senior officials from the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health (DISH), including Shri Sudhir Shinde, Joint Director, and Shri Pravin Patil, Deputy Director, alongside representatives from industries across the Kurkumbh MIDC. The initiative focused on enhancing workplace safety and raising awareness about the new Labour Codes introduced by the Government of India.
Aligned with this year’s theme, “Engage, Educate, Empower,” the engagement emphasised the need for industries in the Kurkumbh industrial cluster to collaborate, share best practices, and strengthen safety standards across occupational, health, and process safety domains.
Speaking at the event, Shri Sudhir Shinde said, “Collaborative efforts like these help raise awareness, strengthen compliance, and reinforce the shared commitment to ensuring safer workplaces across the industrial ecosystem.” His remarks highlighted the importance of industry-government partnerships in promoting safer work environments.
Balaji Gopalaswamy, Site Director at Henkel Kurkumbh, added, “The theme strongly resonates with our approach to safety. At Henkel, we believe safety is built through continuous engagement and learning. Platforms like this enable companies within Kurkumbh MIDC to share expertise, improve safety culture, and collectively protect everyone working in the region.”
The session also focused on awareness around India’s new Labour Codes, particularly the Occupational Safety, Health, and Working Conditions Code, which aims to streamline and strengthen workplace safety regulations across sectors. With over 500 million workers in India, according to the Labour Bureau, maintaining compliance and fostering a strong culture of safety is a critical priority for both regulators and industry leaders.
By hosting this engagement, Henkel reaffirmed its commitment to government-industry collaboration, encouraging companies in the Kurkumbh MIDC cluster to work together to improve safety outcomes. Sharing knowledge, supporting one another, and collectively adopting best practices were highlighted as key measures to build a stronger, safer workplace ecosystem.
Initiatives such as National Safety Week, led by the National Safety Council of India, continue to play a vital role in promoting workplace safety awareness and responsible practices. Henkel’s active participation underscores the company’s ongoing dedication to creating safer, compliant, and sustainable industrial environments across Maharashtra and beyond.
