Coke Studio Bharat has unveiled “Holo Lolo,” the second track of its highly anticipated third season. The song offers a modern tribute to Assam’s rich musical heritage, blending traditional folk melodies with contemporary beats.
Sung by Shankuraj Konwar and Shalmali Kholgade, “Holo Lolo” tells the story of a phandi (elephant trainer) and his deep bond with his hathi saathi (elephant companion). Rooted in the traditions of Assam’s Moran community, the song captures the phandi’s long journeys through dense forests, where he sings about solitude, love, and longing.
A Melodic Bridge Between Past and Present
Inspired by folk songs passed down through generations, “Holo Lolo” paints a vivid picture of life in Assam’s wilderness. Coke Studio Bharat recreates this timeless connection through powerful visual storytelling and an evocative musical arrangement that seamlessly merges Assamese heritage with a contemporary sound.
Shankuraj Konwar expressed his excitement, stating, “Bringing ‘Holo Lolo’ to life has been an honour. Regional music is now at the forefront, and Coke Studio Bharat is making it happen.”
Co-singer Shalmali Kholgade added, “Folk music has a timeless soul, and ‘Holo Lolo’ beautifully blends Assamese heritage with today’s sound. It’s a fresh identity for traditional music.”
Shantanu Gangane, IMX Lead, Coca-Cola India, shared his thoughts: “Music makes history sing, and that’s exactly what Coke Studio Bharat is doing. ‘Holo Lolo’ carries Assam’s heritage and gives it a new voice.”
