Holy Family Hospital and Medical Research Centre has expanded its healthcare outreach with the launch of ‘Home Medicare,’ a new initiative designed to provide professional medical services directly at patients’ homes. The programme aims to make quality healthcare more accessible, especially for those who face difficulty visiting hospitals regularly.

‘Home Medicare’ offers a wide range of services, including doctor consultations at home, nursing care, physiotherapy, home sample collection for diagnostic tests, and doorstep delivery of prescribed medicines. The initiative seeks to ensure that patients continue receiving medical supervision and support without the stress of frequent hospital visits.

The service was officially inaugurated on February 11, 2026, in the hospital’s front garden. Honorary Consultant Dr. Russell Pinto, MBBS, MS in General Surgery, FMAS, formally launched the initiative. During the ceremony, the dedicated mobile medical van for the service was blessed by the Parish Priest of St. Andrew’s Church, symbolising the hospital’s commitment to compassionate and community-oriented care.

Hospital authorities stated that the initiative is particularly beneficial for homebound patients, senior citizens, individuals recovering after surgery, and those living with chronic conditions. Many patients require consistent monitoring, wound care, physiotherapy sessions, or medication management. For such individuals, travel to and from medical facilities can be physically demanding and emotionally stressful. ‘Home Medicare’ addresses this concern by bringing hospital-level care into the comfort and familiarity of their homes.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Pinto highlighted the importance of continuity in medical treatment. He noted that while hospitals remain essential for acute care and emergencies, several aspects of recovery and long-term management can be effectively handled at home under professional supervision. The new service ensures that clinical standards, patient safety, and personalised attention remain uncompromised.

The introduction of ‘Home Medicare’ reflects a broader shift in healthcare delivery, where institutions are increasingly focusing on patient-centred solutions. By integrating medical expertise with convenience, Holy Family Hospital aims to strengthen trust between caregivers and the community.

With this initiative, the hospital reinforces its commitment to accessible and compassionate healthcare. ‘Home Medicare’ is expected to play a significant role in supporting patients who seek quality treatment while recovering in a familiar environment, marking a progressive step in Mumbai’s evolving healthcare landscape.
