Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced a significant expansion of its presence in India through two new hospitality projects in partnership with Brigade Group. The upcoming developments, Grand Hyatt Chennai ECR and Hyatt House Bengaluru Devanahalli, aim to cater to both luxury travellers and the growing demand for extended-stay accommodation.
The agreements have been signed with Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited and BCV Developers Private Limited, both part of the Brigade Group. These projects reflect a strategic push to tap into high-growth urban and leisure markets in India.
The Grand Hyatt Chennai ECR is expected to open in 2029 along the scenic East Coast Road in Chennai. Designed as a premium beachfront destination, the property will feature around 200 guest rooms and a wide range of luxury amenities. Plans include five dining venues such as a signature restaurant, specialty outlets, a pool bar, and a lobby lounge. The hotel will also house wellness facilities and expansive event spaces, making it suitable for weddings, corporate events, and leisure stays.
With its coastal location, the project is positioned to become a landmark hospitality destination in Chennai. It aims to attract a mix of business travellers, tourists, and large event gatherings, especially in the growing MICE segment.
In parallel, the Hyatt House Bengaluru Devanahalli is scheduled to open earlier, in 2027, in Bengaluru. This greenfield development will consist of 135 serviced apartments tailored for both short visits and extended stays. Located just 20 minutes from Kempegowda International Airport, the project is strategically placed within the fast-developing Devanahalli corridor.
The area is emerging as a key business hub, with upcoming IT parks, the Aerospace Science Park, and a planned Financial City driving demand for quality accommodation. The property will include an all-day dining restaurant, a bar, meeting spaces, a swimming pool, and a fitness centre, offering a blend of comfort and convenience for modern travellers.
Industry leaders have expressed confidence in the collaboration. Nirupa Shankar, Managing Director of Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited, highlighted that the Chennai project would redefine the city’s hospitality landscape and mark Brigade’s first partnership with Hyatt. Similarly, Amar Mysore of BCV Developers noted that the Hyatt House brand is well suited for the evolving needs of the Devanahalli region.
From Hyatt’s perspective, the expansion aligns with its broader strategy of strengthening its footprint in India’s key markets. Dhruva Rathore, Vice President of Development for India and Southwest Asia, emphasised that both Chennai and Bengaluru present strong opportunities driven by rising travel demand.
As India’s hospitality sector continues to grow, these projects signal increasing investment in both luxury and long-stay segments, catering to a diverse and evolving traveller base.
