India will take centre stage at the 28th Universal Postal Congress in Dubai with Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, leading the delegation. The event will showcase India’s vision for a modern, inclusive, and technology-driven postal network.
A major highlight will be the launch of the UPI-UPU Integration project, a breakthrough in cross-border remittances. Developed by the Department of Posts, NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), and the Universal Postal Union (UPU), this initiative links India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) with the UPU’s Interconnection Platform. The integration will make it easier, safer, and cheaper for millions of Indians abroad to send money home.
During the Congress, Shri Scindia will deliver a keynote speech outlining India’s roadmap for a trusted and tech-enabled postal ecosystem. The Indian delegation will also engage with 192 member nations, sharing expertise, building partnerships, and promoting innovative solutions for the postal sector worldwide.
India is set to push for a progressive agenda at the Dubai Cycle, calling for sustainable practices, fair access, and stronger adoption of digital technologies. It has also offered its candidature for the Council of Administration and the Postal Operations Council of the UPU. These bids aim to strengthen global cooperation, drive digital transformation, and promote equitable opportunities in global commerce.
