India and Russia are in talks to introduce a visa-free travel arrangement for organised tourist groups, aiming to strengthen tourism and bilateral ties. The proposal, currently under discussion, could allow Indian travellers to visit Russia without a visa when part of registered tour groups.

Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, confirmed that the agreement is being finalised and could be implemented soon. The move is expected to simplify travel procedures and encourage more Indian tourists to explore Russia.

The initiative aligns with Russia’s broader strategy to attract more international visitors. India has already signed similar agreements with countries like Malaysia and Thailand, and a deal with Russia would further enhance travel opportunities.

Officials from both nations are working out the technical details, including eligibility criteria and travel conditions. Once finalised, the visa-free scheme could significantly boost tourism and cultural exchanges between India and Russia.
