Coca-Cola India is celebrating 50 years of Maaza, marking a major milestone in the journey of one of India’s most loved mango drinks. Since its launch in 1976, Maaza has become deeply connected with India’s passion for mangoes and has remained a familiar part of everyday life across generations.
For five decades, Maaza has held a special place in Indian households. From summer vacations and family lunches to festive gatherings and childhood memories, the drink has been associated with moments that feel comforting and uniquely Indian. Over the years, Maaza has evolved from being just a beverage to becoming an emotional symbol of indulgence and nostalgia.
As the brand completes 50 years, the celebration is not limited to the company alone. Coca-Cola India says the milestone also honours the farmers, consumers, partners, and workers who have contributed to Maaza’s journey over the decades. The brand’s legacy reflects India’s long-standing relationship with mangoes, often called the “king of fruits” in the country.
Speaking about the milestone, Sunainika Singh, Senior Director, Marketing – Nutrition at Coca-Cola India and Southwest Asia, said Maaza has earned a permanent place in the memories and lives of Indians through generations. She noted that the drink has remained closely linked with summer holidays, family traditions, festive meals, and simple everyday joys.
According to the company, one of Maaza’s biggest strengths has been its ability to stay relevant while preserving the familiar mango taste that consumers love. Over the years, the brand has introduced several memorable campaigns including “Taaza Mango, Maaza Mango” and “Maaza Ho Jaaye.” These campaigns helped strengthen the emotional bond between the drink and Indian consumers.
Sukesh Nayak, Chief Creative Officer at Ogilvy India, said Maaza represents more than just a fruit drink. According to him, the brand captures the feeling and joy associated with mangoes, something people grow up with and continue to cherish throughout life.
Beyond advertising and branding, Coca-Cola India also highlighted its work with mango farming communities through Project Unnati. The initiative focuses on supporting fruit farmers across different Indian states and union territories. The company says it has introduced sustainable agricultural methods such as drip irrigation systems and ultra-high-density plantation techniques. These measures are aimed at improving fruit quality, increasing productivity, and supporting long-term sustainability in mango farming.
The company’s grove-to-glass approach has helped strengthen the connection between Indian farms and the final product enjoyed by consumers. By working closely with farming communities, Coca-Cola India says it aims to create a more sustainable and efficient mango supply chain.
As Maaza enters its next phase, the brand plans to continue celebrating mango culture through stories, campaigns, and experiences rooted in Indian traditions and daily life. The company says the focus will remain on preserving the familiar taste and emotional connection that have defined Maaza for the past 50 years.
With changing consumer preferences and increasing competition in the beverage market, Maaza’s five-decade journey highlights the enduring popularity of mango-based drinks in India and the strong emotional bond consumers continue to share with the brand.
