Nestlé Professional, the Out-of-Home business division of Nestlé India, has marked a significant milestone in its expansion strategy by opening a new NESCAFÉ kiosk at Thrissur Railway Station in Kerala. The launch represents the company’s first outlet under its partnership with Indian Railways and reflects its growing focus on serving consumers in high-footfall travel locations across the country.
The initiative aims to enhance the travel experience for railway passengers by offering trusted food and beverage options at one of Kerala’s busiest railway stations. With millions of people relying on Indian Railways every day, the partnership provides Nestlé Professional with an opportunity to connect with a large and diverse consumer base while delivering quality refreshments to travellers on the move.
Located within Thrissur Railway Station, the NESCAFÉ outlet offers a range of hot and cold coffee beverages along with carefully selected food options. Designed to provide convenience, consistency and quality, the kiosk caters to passengers looking for reliable refreshment choices during their journeys.
Speaking about the association, Saurabh Makhija, Head of Nestlé Professional, highlighted the significance of partnering with Indian Railways. He noted that Indian Railways is one of the most trusted institutions in the country and plays an important role in the daily lives of millions of Indians. According to him, the launch of the NESCAFÉ outlet at Thrissur Railway Station allows the company to bring travellers a familiar and comforting experience through quality coffee and trusted food and beverage offerings.
The move aligns with Nestlé Professional’s broader strategy of expanding its presence in locations where consumers seek quick, convenient and dependable food and beverage solutions. Travel hubs such as railway stations, airports and bus terminals have become increasingly important channels for food service brands as consumer expectations continue to evolve.
Jinraj Adyanthaya, Sales Head of Nestlé Professional, described the railway sector as a key growth channel for the company. He said that the vast scale of the Indian Railways network provides a unique opportunity to engage with millions of consumers every day. The new partnership is expected to help Nestlé Professional strengthen its footprint across railway stations while making a wider range of Nestlé products more accessible to travellers.
He further revealed that the company plans to participate in railway tenders across various divisions in India as part of its expansion plans. This approach could pave the way for additional NESCAFÉ outlets and other Nestlé Professional offerings at railway stations nationwide.
To ensure a consistent consumer experience, all outlets under this initiative will be operated through Nestlé-authorised operators. The company believes this model will help maintain high standards of quality, service and operational efficiency across all locations.
The opening of the Thrissur kiosk reflects the increasing demand for branded food and beverage experiences in public transport hubs. As railway stations continue to modernise and focus on passenger convenience, partnerships with established consumer brands are becoming an important part of the transformation.
With its first railway station outlet now operational, Nestlé Professional has taken a significant step towards expanding its presence in India’s travel sector. The company hopes the initiative will not only strengthen brand visibility but also provide travellers with a dependable and enjoyable refreshment experience during their journeys.
