Mumbai: Parle Agro has expanded its popular dairy beverage brand Smoodh with the launch of Smoodh Kesar Badam, a flavoured milk that blends a classic Indian taste with a contemporary format. The new variant aims to combine tradition with convenience, offering consumers a familiar flavour in an easy, on-the-go pack.
Kesar badam has long been associated with festive occasions, family gatherings and moments of comfort across Indian households. By introducing this flavour under the Smoodh portfolio, Parle Agro seeks to tap into that emotional connection while catering to changing consumption habits, especially among younger consumers who prefer ready-to-drink options.
Smoodh Kesar Badam is crafted with the aroma and warmth of saffron and the nutritional appeal of almonds, blended with smooth and creamy milk. The company positions the beverage as both indulgent and wholesome, suitable for a quick refreshment during the day or as a treat during celebrations. The product extends Smoodh’s existing flavoured milk range, which has steadily grown in popularity in India’s expanding dairy beverage segment.
The drink is priced at ₹10 for an 80 ml pack and ₹20 for a 150 ml pack. This pricing strategy is intended to keep the product accessible to a wide consumer base, including school and college students. The compact packaging also makes it convenient for travel, lunch boxes and short breaks during work or study hours.
Nadia Chauhan, Joint Managing Director and Chief Marketing Officer of Parle Agro, said the launch reflects the company’s ongoing effort to reinterpret Indian flavours in formats that resonate with modern consumers. She noted that traditional tastes continue to hold strong emotional value, and presenting them in contemporary packaging helps bridge generations.
India’s ready-to-drink dairy beverage market has witnessed steady growth in recent years, driven by urbanisation, rising disposable incomes and a growing preference for convenient nutrition. With Smoodh Kesar Badam, Parle Agro appears to be reinforcing its focus on innovation within familiar taste profiles.
The launch underlines a broader industry trend. Beverage companies are increasingly blending heritage flavours with modern branding to create products that feel both nostalgic and new. In that sense, Smoodh Kesar Badam is not just a new variant, but also a reflection of how Indian consumer preferences continue to evolve while staying rooted in tradition.
