President Droupadi Murmu participated in the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, by taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. Clad in a white saree, she offered prayers while standing in the sacred waters, performed Ganga Aarti, and conducted a ‘pooja’ ceremony.

Accompanying the President were Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Following the rituals at the Sangam, President Murmu visited the Akshayavat and Bade Hanuman Temple, and explored the Digital Kumbh Anubhav Centre.
The Maha Kumbh Mela, which commenced on January 13, is renowned as the world’s largest spiritual and cultural gathering, drawing millions of devotees from across India and around the globe. The festival is set to conclude on February 26, coinciding with Mahashivratri.
Notably, the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, had also taken a holy dip during a Maha Kumbh Mela, underscoring the event’s enduring significance.
