Turkish airlines extends stopover perks with more hotel nights in Istanbul
Turkish Airlines has expanded its Stopover in Istanbul programme, offering longer complimentary stays for travellers transiting through Türkiye’s cultural capital. This enhancement is now available for select countries, with more expected to follow.

Under the updated programme, Business Class passengers will receive up to three nights in a 5-star hotel, while Economy Class passengers are now entitled to two nights in a 4-star hotel. This is a significant upgrade from the previous offer of two and one night respectively.
The extended accommodation is now available for eligible passengers travelling from the following countries:
- Australia
- Canada
- Chile
- China Mainland (Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing)
- Chinese Taipei
- Indonesia
- Japan
- Malaysia
- Mexico
- New Zealand
- Singapore
- South Korea
- United States
This phase is part of a broader expansion plan that will add 15 more destinations throughout 2025. The aim is to enhance the international travel experience and promote Istanbul as a stopover destination.

Since its launch in 2017, the Stopover in Istanbul initiative has allowed over 221,000 passengers from 91 countries and 235 cities to explore the historic city during long layovers. Travellers often take advantage of the extra time to visit iconic landmarks such as:
- Ayasofya (Hagia Sophia)
- Blue Mosque
- Topkapi Palace
- Dolmabahçe Palace
- Scenic Bosphorus cruises
To qualify, passengers must have a layover of at least 20 hours in Istanbul and request the hotel stay at least 72 hours before their flight. Turkish Airlines aims to further expand this experience across its global network.
