Turkish Airlines has strengthened its presence in Eastern Europe with the launch of a new route to Timișoara, marking its fourth destination in Romania after Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, and Constanța. The addition of Timișoara further expands the airline’s footprint in the region and reinforces its growing connectivity across Europe.
The new service will operate with five weekly flights, increasing Turkish Airlines’ total frequency in Romania to 47 weekly services. The launch was marked with an inauguration ceremony at Timișoara Traian Vuia International Airport, attended by senior airline officials and airport authorities. The event underscored the strategic importance of the new route in boosting regional accessibility and economic ties.
Speaking on the occasion, Bilal Ekşi highlighted Romania’s importance as a key market for the airline. He noted that expanding operations to a fourth city in the country reflects Turkish Airlines’ commitment to offering passengers more travel options while strengthening links to its global network centred in Istanbul. He also expressed confidence that the new route would contribute to both commercial growth and tourism development in the region.
Located along the Bega River in western Romania, Timișoara is widely recognised for its rich cultural heritage and vibrant urban life. Often referred to as “Little Vienna,” the city is known for its elegant architecture, spacious squares, and dynamic arts scene. Landmarks such as Union Square and Victory Square attract visitors from across Europe. Having been named the European Capital of Culture in 2023, Timișoara continues to grow as a hub for tourism as well as business activity.
The introduction of this route not only enhances travel convenience for passengers but also strengthens Turkish Airlines’ position as a global connector. With access to an extensive network of 358 destinations worldwide via Istanbul, travellers from Timișoara can now benefit from seamless international connections.
Flight operations will begin in early April 2026. Services will run on Tuesdays and Saturdays with departures from Istanbul at 07:40 and arrivals in Timișoara at 09:25, followed by return flights at 10:15 reaching Istanbul at 12:05. Additional services on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays will depart Istanbul at 19:25, arriving in Timișoara at 21:10, with return flights leaving at 22:00 and landing in Istanbul at 23:50. All timings are local.
