Mumbai Stays Cool While Maharashtra Swelters.
As most parts of Maharashtra experience soaring temperatures, Mumbai remains noticeably cooler, with maximum temperatures hovering around 33–34°C. In sharp contrast, several interior regions have recorded highs exceeding 43°C.
Sea Breeze and Anticyclone Movement
Meteorologists say Mumbai’s temperature drop is due to an early onset of sea breezes and the weakening of an anticyclone system over the Arabian Sea. As this system shifted away from the west coast, sea winds returned earlier than usual, bringing relief to the city.
Persistent Humidity Causes Discomfort
Despite cooler daytime highs, high humidity levels are making Mumbai’s weather feel sticky and uncomfortable. Relative humidity has climbed to around 88%, reducing the body’s ability to cool itself and amplifying the discomfort for residents.
IMD Issues Yellow Alert
A yellow alert has been issued for Mumbai and nearby districts including Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg. The advisory warns of hot and humid weather conditions, urging citizens to stay hydrated and avoid long periods outdoors.
