Amazon MX Player has signed an exclusive licensing deal with CJ ENM to premiere 18 K-Dramas in India’s AVOD space. Starting 8 September, viewers will be able to stream some of Korea’s most-loved shows completely free in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
The launch will be headlined by Lovely Runner, a series that recently sparked a global K-pop romance craze. Following this, other favourites like My Lovely Liar, Twinkling Watermelon, Wedding Impossible, and Delightfully Deceitful will roll out in phases across the year.
This is the first official content package deal between CJ ENM and Amazon MX Player since Amazon’s acquisition of the service. The move marks a major push to connect with India’s fast-growing K-drama fanbase while making international stories accessible in local languages.
Amogh Dusad, Director and Head of Content at Amazon MX Player, said the demand for Korean dramas in India has risen sharply. “Through this partnership, we’re bringing 18 premium K-dramas to Indian audiences, many for the first time. These will be free to watch in local languages,” he added.
CJ ENM also welcomed the collaboration. Sebastian Kim, Vice President of International Business, said the shows had already proven their strength globally and would resonate strongly with Indian viewers.
All titles will stream exclusively on Amazon MX Player, available through the MX Player app on mobile and smart TVs, as well as on the Amazon shopping app, Prime Video, Fire TV, and Airtel Xtreme.
