Government of Maharashtra allots 100 acres to RRP Electronics Ltd. in Navi Mumbai for a major semiconductor fab project. The facility will produce up to 1.25 lakh wafers each month and is backed by cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis handed over the Letter of Comfort on 12 September 2025. The land allotment supports the relocation of a fab unit from Sherman, Texas, by one of the world’s leading semiconductor companies.
Fadnavis called the move a big step for India’s Semiconductor Mission. He promised full state support in infrastructure, policy, and skill development. He also said the project would boost local supply chains, create jobs, and strengthen Maharashtra’s position as a hub for high-tech manufacturing.
Rajendra Chodankar, Chairman of RRP Electronics, thanked the state government for its support. He described the acquisition as a landmark moment in making India more self-reliant in semiconductors.
This announcement comes a year after Maharashtra launched its first OSAT semiconductor facility in Navi Mumbai. With this new fab, RRP Electronics is set to build one of the region’s largest and most advanced units. The project places Maharashtra and India firmly in the global semiconductor value chain.
