Toyota Kirloskar Motor has laid the foundation stone for a new Training and Camping Centre for the Bharat Scouts & Guides in Chikmagalur, Karnataka. This initiative highlights the company’s dedication to education, skill enhancement, and community development. The project will help young students gain essential life skills, leadership qualities, and social responsibility.
The facility is expected to benefit more than 2,400 students every year. It will cater not only to youth from Chikmagalur but also those from nearby districts. The construction is scheduled to begin in January 2026, with completion planned for March 2027. Once ready, it will provide state-of-the-art spaces for training, workshops, outdoor activities, and community engagement.
Speaking at the event, Sudeep Santram Dalvi, Chief Communication Officer and Senior Vice President at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, stressed the importance of holistic growth for young people. He said the centre would allow students to build confidence, self-reliance, and strong values. The company aims to collaborate with local authorities, community leaders, and the Bharat Scouts & Guides to ensure long-term impact.
The new centre will not just be a modern training ground but also a nurturing environment. Plans include an administrative block, a fully equipped kitchen with dining hall, dormitories for boys and girls, proper sanitation facilities, and ten tent units that can host up to 100 students. By creating such infrastructure, Toyota Kirloskar Motor is strengthening its mission of youth empowerment and leadership development.
The groundbreaking ceremony saw the presence of several notable figures, including H. D. Thimmaiah, MLA of the Chikmagaluru Constituency, PGR Sindhia, State Chief Commissioner of the Bharat Scouts & Guides, and Roshan R, General Manager of Toyota Kirloskar Motor. Senior officials from both TKM and BSG also attended the event.
PGR Sindhia praised the initiative, noting that the Bharat Scouts & Guides play a crucial role in shaping discipline, leadership, and teamwork among students. He said the new centre in Chikmagalur will open many opportunities for youth across Karnataka and appreciated Toyota Kirloskar Motor for supporting this cause.
This project aligns with the vision of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, which encourages Scouting and Guiding as a tool for youth development. The National Education Policy 2020 also highlights life skills as a central part of holistic learning. By backing this initiative, TKM is aligning its efforts with national priorities in education and youth growth.
The Bharat Scouts & Guides is India’s largest youth movement, reaching thousands of students through voluntary service, skill training, outdoor camps, and community projects. At present, BSG runs two state-level training centres in Karnataka at Doddaballapura and Davanagere, along with multiple district centres. The upcoming Chikmagalur facility will be the latest addition, offering more opportunities for students to explore, learn, and lead.
Through this project, Toyota Kirloskar Motor is showing how businesses can make a difference beyond their core industry. By investing in education and youth empowerment, the company is helping create responsible citizens ready to face the future with confidence.
