IMDb has launched Dekh Bhais, a new conversational video series aimed at helping viewers decide what to watch next. The series features comedian Rohan Joshi and content creator Aaditya Kulshreshth, popularly known as Kullu, and is hosted across IMDb’s social media platforms.
Designed around IMDb’s ‘What to Watch’ tools, Dekh Bhais adopts an unscripted and informal format. Each episode centres on everyday viewing dilemmas, with Joshi and Kullu discussing films and shows while exploring IMDb’s discovery features such as advanced search, curated lists and personalised recommendations.
The series brings a theme or challenge in every episode, turning the often confusing content discovery process into light, engaging conversations. Through humour and personal anecdotes, the hosts demonstrate how IMDb can play a practical role in shaping a viewer’s entertainment choices.
In the debut episode, which marks the first on-screen pairing of Joshi and Kullu, Joshi spoke about his fondness for films that authentically capture the spirit of a city. Referring to Maqbool, he said some films make him feel so connected that it feels like he can “smell Mumbai” while watching them.
While exploring trivia related to the film on IMDb, Kullu highlighted how much behind-the-scenes information the platform offers. He shared that several actors were once considered for the lead role in Maqbool, including Kay Kay Menon and Kamal Haasan, adding that much of this lesser-known trivia is easily accessible on IMDb.
Kullu also recalled a personal anecdote that reflected the complexities of film choices. He spoke about taking a date to a special screening of Requiem for a Dream, only to realise later that watching a critically acclaimed film does not always translate into a pleasant shared experience. The memory added a relatable layer to the conversation around how and why people choose what to watch.
With Dekh Bhais, IMDb aims to blend entertainment with utility, positioning its platform not just as a database, but as an active companion in the viewing journey. The full episode is currently available on IMDb’s official YouTube channel.
