India has strengthened its presence in the global media and entertainment sector with the successful hosting of WAVES 2025 – the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit. The event brought together participants from more than 90 countries, making it one of the most significant gatherings of creative minds, industry leaders, innovators, and young talent.
Organised by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the summit welcomed over 10,000 delegates from film, television, animation, gaming, digital media, visual effects, sound engineering, and extended reality sectors. The purpose was to highlight India’s creative abilities and encourage global partnerships that can boost industry innovation and employment.
The summit echoed India’s vision of “Create in India, Create for the World,” reflecting the country’s ambition to become a global centre for content creation, distribution, and creative entrepreneurship. The platform encourages international collaborations, skill exchanges, and business opportunities that can support long-term growth for studios, startups, and independent creators.
A major attraction was the CreatoSphere and the Create in India Challenges (CIC). More than one lakh entries were received from India and abroad, with finalists presenting outstanding work across areas like film editing, animation design, game development, VR, AR, VFX, digital storytelling, music production, and content innovation. Around 750 finalists were showcased across dedicated zones, offering a glimpse into the future of creative technology.
The event also featured the WAVES Creator Awards, honouring over 150 creators whose contributions are shaping new narratives in entertainment. Several CIC winners have gone on to present their work internationally, positioning Indian creative talent on the world stage.
To support entrepreneurship, the WaveX initiative enabled more than 200 creative startups to pitch ideas to global organisations and investors. The WAVES Bazaar, a dedicated business and networking marketplace, hosted B2B meetings, partnership discussions, and investment talks, opening new market pathways for Indian companies.
Beyond technology and business, WAVES 2025 focused on community outreach, inclusion, skill development, and women’s participation in the creative workforce. The summit offered a roadmap for how India can strengthen its cultural identity while building a globally competitive creative economy.
With rising global interest, expanding digital reach, and a strong talent pool, WAVES 2025 stands as a major milestone in India’s journey to becoming one of the world’s leading creative capitals.
