The Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association has marked a significant milestone with the launch of the fourth edition of BuildELEC and the debut edition of CompELEC in Mumbai. The three-day event, being held from February 25 to 27, aims to create a focused sourcing and networking platform for India’s growing building electrical and components manufacturing ecosystem.
The event brings together manufacturers, developers, consultants and contractors under one roof. It is designed to strengthen business linkages and encourage collaboration across the sector. With structured buyer-seller meetings and industry discussions, the platform seeks to translate participation into measurable commercial outcomes.
The Chief Guest, S. M. Ramanathan, Director Engineering and Research and Development at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, highlighted the rapid expansion of India’s power infrastructure. He noted that demand for equipment across low voltage, medium voltage and extra high voltage segments continues to grow steadily. According to him, the component industry plays a vital role in ensuring timely completion of equipment manufacturing and large-scale projects.
He also welcomed the launch of CompELEC as a dedicated sourcing platform for electrical components. More than 150 buyers are participating in structured one-on-one meetings with exhibitors. This format is expected to accelerate procurement cycles and generate fresh momentum for the industry.
IEEMA President Vikram Gandotra underlined the scale and ambition of the sector. He stated that IEEMA’s 1,100 plus members have played a key role in powering India’s growth story. The industry is currently valued at approximately USD 75 billion, with exports touching USD 13.5 billion. It is now working towards an ambitious USD 130 billion target by 2030. He stressed that achieving this goal will require strict adherence to supply timelines, stronger domestic manufacturing and resilient supply chains.
Mentor Shashi Amin pointed to emerging opportunities in the market. He observed that the sector is expected to double in size over the next five years. This edition of the exhibition focuses on building a results-driven ecosystem where specialised manufacturers can directly connect with key decision-makers. The objective, he said, goes beyond product display and centres on enabling tangible commercial growth.
With its Mumbai debut, BuildELEC and CompELEC are being viewed as important steps in strengthening India’s electrical manufacturing capabilities and enhancing global competitiveness as the sector moves towards its 2030 vision.
