Mumbai: The trailer of the upcoming web series Smriti, directed and produced by Ajay Ram, has created a buzz with its powerful and unsettling narrative. Launched at a grand event in Mumbai, the horror-thriller blends suspense with a hard-hitting social theme, highlighting the urgent issue of women’s safety and justice.
Unlike conventional horror content, Smriti goes beyond scares to deliver a meaningful message. Speaking at the launch, Ajay Ram addressed the growing concern over crimes against women. He stressed that stricter punishments are necessary to prevent such incidents and said the series aims to raise awareness rather than just entertain.
The story follows a young woman whose life changes completely after a traumatic incident. Once full of hope and happiness, she becomes a victim of injustice. However, the narrative takes a dark and gripping turn when she returns as a spirit, determined to seek revenge. This supernatural angle adds depth to the story, making it an intense mix of emotion, fear and retribution.
Lead actress Ayushi Tiwari shared that her role was both emotionally demanding and meaningful. She described her character as a symbol of resilience, showing how a woman can rise even after facing unimaginable pain. Actor Gaurav Singh, who plays a negative role, highlighted the need for a shift in societal mindset. He emphasised that respect and sensitivity towards women are essential to bring real change.
The trailer launch also featured the soulful track Piya Sang Dori, picturised on Ayushi Tiwari. The song adds emotional weight to the narrative and deepens the audience’s connection with the protagonist’s journey.
The event saw the presence of several industry personalities, including Yogesh Lakhani of Bright Outdoor Media, actress Madhumita Biswas, filmmaker Vinod Nagar, actress Lizza Singh, and music composer Masood Iqbal. All attendees appreciated the series for addressing a socially relevant issue through an engaging format.
Produced under the banner of C.R. Films Productions, Smriti features a strong ensemble cast and will soon release on OTT platform CRF Studios. With its blend of horror and social commentary, the series promises not just entertainment, but a thought-provoking experience that reflects the realities of society.
