At a time when digital content is consumed within seconds, actor Ashnoor Kaur believes that talent alone is no longer enough to survive in the entertainment industry. Speaking at Content India 2026, she shared her views on relevance, personal branding, and the fast-changing audience landscape.
Ashnoor, who began her acting journey as a child and was recently seen on Bigg Boss 18, emphasised that actors today must go beyond just performance. According to her, building a strong personal identity is equally important. She noted that while reach and visibility matter, they should not be confused with real talent.
She explained that in today’s competitive environment, creating a personal brand has become essential. With countless creators entering the space, standing out requires more than just good acting. How an individual presents themselves, both on and off screen, plays a key role in shaping audience perception. However, she firmly stated that popularity metrics such as followers or views do not define an artist’s true capability. In her view, talent eventually finds its way to shine, regardless of digital reach.
The conversation also touched upon how audience behaviour has evolved. Ashnoor pointed out that the rise of social media and short-form content has significantly reduced attention spans. Viewers now decide within seconds whether to continue watching a video. This makes the opening moments, or the ‘hook’, more crucial than ever. Creators must capture attention instantly to retain their audience.
At the same time, she highlighted the growing global reach of Indian content. She described it as a fulfilling experience to receive messages from viewers across different countries. Audiences from places like the United States and Australia are engaging with Indian stories, often through subtitles. This, she believes, reflects the universal appeal of storytelling and the ability of cinema to connect people beyond language barriers.
Ashnoor also praised platforms like Content India for encouraging such discussions. She noted that storytelling today is no longer limited by geographical boundaries. Instead, it is expanding rapidly across global markets, creating new opportunities for artists and creators.
In a rapidly evolving digital world, her message remains clear. Reach may bring visibility, but it is talent and authenticity that sustain long-term success.
