Marriott International and CG Hospitality Global have strengthened their partnership with a landmark agreement to develop three new luxury and premium hotels across India and Nepal. The projects, expected to open by 2031, will add nearly 450 rooms to Marriott’s growing portfolio in South Asia and introduce some of the hospitality giant’s most recognised brands to key destinations in the region.
The agreement includes the launch of The Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu, The Westin Kathmandu, and JW Marriott Hotel Siliguri. The developments are expected to cater to both international travellers and local residents while supporting tourism growth and economic development in the region.
The signing ceremony was attended by David Marriott, Chairman of the Board of Marriott International, along with Dr Binod K. Chaudhary, Chairman of CG Corp Global and CG Hospitality, and Rahul Chaudhary, Managing Director and CEO of CG Corp Global and CG Hospitality Global. Senior Marriott executives Rajeev Menon and Kiran Andicot were also present.
Rajeev Menon, President of Asia Pacific excluding China at Marriott International, said the agreement reflects a shared commitment to bringing world-class hospitality experiences to high-potential markets. He noted that the new developments will not only strengthen Marriott’s luxury and premium portfolio but also contribute to tourism, employment generation and regional economic growth.
Rahul Chaudhary described the agreement as an important milestone in the long-standing relationship between the two companies. He said the projects would help create iconic destinations, generate employment opportunities and showcase the cultural richness of South Asia to global travellers.
Ritz-Carlton to Debut in Nepal
One of the most significant announcements is the arrival of The Ritz-Carlton brand in Nepal for the first time. The Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu is expected to feature 150 guest rooms, including 30 suites. The hotel plans include five dining venues, a Ritz-Carlton Spa, a fitness centre, an outdoor swimming pool and more than 1,100 square metres of event and conference facilities.
Located close to Tribhuvan International Airport, the hotel will provide easy access to major attractions including Thamel, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple.
Wellness-Focused Westin Kathmandu
The Westin Kathmandu will also feature 150 rooms and suites. Designed around the brand’s wellness philosophy, the hotel is expected to include three dining venues, a Heavenly Spa by Westin, a WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio and a rooftop swimming pool.
The property will offer more than 700 square metres of meeting and banquet space and is positioned to attract both business and leisure travellers seeking wellness-focused experiences.
JW Marriott Arrives in Siliguri
In India, JW Marriott Hotel Siliguri will bring the brand’s luxury hospitality experience to one of eastern India’s fastest-growing gateways. Located near Bagdogra Airport and at the foothills of the Himalayas, the hotel is expected to feature 150 guest rooms and suites.
The development will include four dining venues, a Spa by JW, an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness centre and 1,500 square metres of banquet space. Marriott said the property is designed to offer a balance of accessibility, comfort and wellness for travellers visiting Northeast India and neighbouring regions.
The latest agreement further strengthens the growing relationship between Marriott International and CG Hospitality Global. The two companies have already collaborated on several hospitality projects across Asia and continue to expand their presence through multiple brands and developments.
With tourism across South Asia witnessing steady growth, the new properties are expected to play a key role in attracting both domestic and international visitors while supporting the hospitality sector in India and Nepal.
