The trailer and music of the upcoming Hindi film ‘Children of God’ were unveiled in a special ceremony held in Shirdi, Maharashtra. Organised in the spiritual town associated with Sai Baba, the launch celebrated the film’s central message of compassion, equality and acceptance for the transgender community.
The event drew inspiration from the teachings of Sai Baba, who is remembered for promoting kindness, humanity and respect for all. The makers said the film reflects these values by telling a true story that encourages society to look beyond gender identity and embrace every individual with dignity.
The launch was attended by filmmaker and actor Aushim Khetarpal, director Ashish Saxena, Aarti Khetarpal, Raadhika Khetarpal, Chief Executive Officer of Shri Saibaba Sansthan Goraksha Gadilkar, International Strategist of Sai Baba Peace Awards Sanjana John, along with the film’s cast and crew.
One of the most memorable moments of the evening was the ceremonial lighting of a sacred torch that had travelled across several countries before arriving in Shirdi. Aushim Khetarpal lit the torch in the presence of guests, media representatives and dignitaries. Attendees were also given an opportunity to touch the historic torch, adding a spiritual dimension to the event.
The cultural performances further enhanced the atmosphere. Aarti Khetarpal performed a devotional bhajan that received an enthusiastic response from the audience. Raadhika Khetarpal followed with an Odissi dance performance, which was warmly appreciated by those present. After the performances, the official trailer and songs of Children of God were unveiled.
Speaking at the event, Goraksha Gadilkar praised the initiative behind the film. He said Sai Baba’s teachings on compassion, equality and social welfare remain relevant in today’s world and stressed the importance of treating every individual with respect. He also appreciated Aushim Khetarpal’s earlier work based on Sai Baba’s life and expressed confidence that the new film would encourage greater sensitivity towards the transgender community.
Aushim Khetarpal described Children of God as more than just a film. He said it is an emotional journey about acceptance, dignity and humanity. According to him, the film aims to inspire people to move beyond social labels and recognise the worth of every individual. He added that launching the film in Shirdi made the occasion especially meaningful because of the town’s association with Sai Baba’s message of universal compassion.
Inspired by a true story, Children of God follows the life of Amit, a young person who faces rejection and isolation because of identity-related struggles. Forced to leave home, Amit finds acceptance within the transgender community and gradually embraces a new identity as Amita. At a crucial point in life, a compassionate mentor named Aushim helps Amita rediscover hope and confidence. The story highlights that identity should not be defined by society’s expectations but by self-acceptance and courage.
The film explores themes of discrimination, resilience, transformation and hope while advocating equal respect and opportunities for every individual. It aims to encourage conversations about inclusion and human dignity through an emotional narrative.
The cast includes Aushim Khetarpal, Akash Verma, Raadhika Khetarpal, Sarthak Kapoor, Prince Rajeev, N.K. Singh, Bhavya Singh, Raj Chaudhary, Ranesha Agarwal, Abhishek Sinha, Shobhna Khatri and Annu Sharma.
Children of God is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 11 September, bringing its message of acceptance, equality and humanity to audiences across the globe.
