Could a simple face scan help identify hidden health problems before you even feel unwell? According to a new analysis by Redcliffe Labs, AI-powered facial scanning technology may offer early warning signs of several health conditions, encouraging people to seek medical tests before symptoms develop.
The study is based on data collected over the past six months from lakhs of users who used Redcliffe Labs’ AI-powered Face Scan platform. The digital tool is designed to analyse visible physiological signals from a person’s face and provide insights into their overall health. While it is not a diagnostic test, the technology aims to identify potential risks that should be confirmed through laboratory investigations.
The analysis found that 62% of users showed signs of blood pressure variability, 48% had elevated stress levels, and 36% displayed breathing rate irregularities during their Face Scan assessments.
What makes these findings significant is what happened next. Many users who received these early alerts went on to complete the recommended laboratory tests. According to the analysis, nearly nine out of ten were found to have abnormalities in the related health parameters, suggesting a strong link between the AI-generated alerts and underlying medical conditions.
The follow-up diagnostic tests highlighted concerns across four major areas of health.
Cardiovascular health
Many users were found to have abnormal cholesterol levels, including LDL, HDL and triglycerides. Lipid and cholesterol abnormalities accounted for seven of the ten most commonly detected health issues during follow-up testing, pointing to hidden cardiovascular risks.
Inflammation
More than one in five users recorded elevated high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels. Other inflammation and immune-related markers were also found to be abnormal in several cases. Persistent low-grade inflammation is associated with heart disease, diabetes and other chronic illnesses.
Nutritional deficiencies
The analysis also revealed that more than half of the users had abnormal Vitamin D levels. Blood health issues and other nutritional deficiencies were commonly detected, highlighting the importance of routine health screening even in people without obvious symptoms.
Metabolic and organ health
Follow-up tests also identified abnormalities in blood sugar, liver enzymes and kidney function. These conditions often develop silently and may remain undiagnosed until they become more serious.
Redcliffe Labs says the AI Face Scan is intended to support preventive healthcare rather than replace traditional medical testing. The company believes such technology can encourage people to undergo timely diagnostic investigations before symptoms appear.
Commenting on the findings, Redcliffe Labs Founder and Chief Executive Officer Aditya Kandoi said that healthcare should focus on identifying health risks early rather than waiting until disease becomes visible. He added that combining artificial intelligence with diagnostic testing can help people make better-informed decisions about their health.
As lifestyle diseases continue to rise in India, especially among younger adults, technologies that promote early screening could become an important part of preventive healthcare. The findings suggest that paying attention to early physiological changes and confirming them through proper medical testing may improve the chances of early treatment and better long-term health outcomes.
