AUMOVIO India, the Indian unit of German technology and electronics company AUMOVIO, has announced the restoration of Dhunturu Lake in Kanakapura taluk, Ramanagara district.
The initiative is part of the company’s continued focus on community development, environmental care, and long-term sustainability. Through the project, AUMOVIO India aims to restore the lake and strengthen its role as an important freshwater resource for nearby communities.
Restoring Dhunturu Lake
The Dhunturu Lake restoration project aims to revive the freshwater ecosystem and improve the lake’s water-holding capacity. At the same time, the project will support the restoration of local biodiversity and encourage community participation in the conservation of shared natural resources.
The project is expected to improve water security and support ecological balance in the region. It will also contribute to long-term environmental resilience in Kanakapura.
By improving the lake’s ability to hold water, AUMOVIO India aims to strengthen the wider lake ecosystem. The restoration will also support the revival of local flora and fauna.
Building on Earlier Lake Restoration Work
The initiative builds on AUMOVIO India’s experience with similar lake restoration projects. This includes the successful restoration of Hullahalli Lake.
At Hullahalli, the project improved the lake’s water-holding capacity and supported the revival of local biodiversity. It also restored the lake’s natural area.
In addition, the project strengthened community participation in lake conservation. It helped build a greater sense of community ownership around the lake and its long-term conservation.
AUMOVIO India is now bringing this experience to the restoration of Dhunturu Lake.
Supporting Water Security and Farmers
Dhunturu Lake is located in Dhunturu village. The lake covers 10 acres and 27 gunthas. It serves as an important natural resource for the communities in the surrounding areas.
Through the restoration work, AUMOVIO India aims to strengthen the lake ecosystem and improve its capacity to retain water. The project will also support the revival of local flora and fauna.
Furthermore, the initiative is expected to improve groundwater recharge. This could support farmers in the region by improving irrigation potential.
It may also help reduce dependence on unpredictable rainfall patterns. As a result, the restoration of the lake can support both the local environment and the communities that depend on natural water resources.
Reaching Local Communities
The initiative will benefit the people of Kadahalli Gram Panchayat. The Gram Panchayat comprises 8 villages.
According to the 2011 Census, these villages have a total population of 7,000 individuals and 1,700 households. Therefore, the lake restoration project will support a community spread across several villages.
However, the initiative will not focus only on restoring the lake. AUMOVIO India will also work to create awareness among local communities, youth, and students.
The awareness efforts will focus on water conservation, ecosystem sustainability, and the responsible management of natural resources. Through these efforts, the project aims to encourage greater participation in the conservation of the local environment.
Focus on Long-Term Sustainability
Community participation forms an important part of the Dhunturu Lake restoration initiative. By encouraging local communities, youth, and students to understand the importance of water conservation, the project aims to support the responsible management of natural resources.
