The Ministry of Panchayati Raj is set to launch the ‘Sashakt Panchayat-Netri Abhiyan’ on 4th March 2025 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. This initiative aims to strengthen the leadership skills of women elected representatives in Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) across India.
Over 1,200 women leaders from various PRIs will participate in this national workshop. The event will include the launch of training modules and a primer on laws addressing gender-based violence.
Panel discussions will cover themes such as women’s participation in local governance and sectoral interventions by women leaders in areas like health, education, and digital transformation. Cultural performances celebrating women’s achievements, organised by UNFPA, will add a vibrant dimension to the workshop.
This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Nari Shakti’ (women’s power) in nation-building, aiming to create safer, inclusive, and gender-sensitive Gram Panchayats.
