Mumbai’s Western Railway has announced significant disruptions to train services due to essential re-girdering work on Bridge No. 20 between Mahim and Bandra stations. The maintenance is scheduled over two consecutive nights:
April 11–12: From 11:00 PM to 8:30 AM
April 12–13: From 11:30 PM to 9:00 AM
Impact on Suburban Services:
A total of 334 suburban train services will be fully cancelled during these periods—132 services on the first night and 202 on the second. Additionally, 185 services will face partial cancellations, with 68 affected on the first night and 117 on the second
Alterations to Train Routes:
During the block periods, all down slow trains originating from Churchgate and up slow trains heading towards Churchgate will operate on fast lines between Mumbai Central and Santacruz. Consequently, these trains will not halt at the following stations:
- Mahalaxmi
- Lower Parel
- Prabhadevi
- Matunga Road
- Mahim
- Khar Road
To mitigate commuter inconvenience, Western Railway will operate 110 additional services—42 on the first night and 68 on the second. Nine long-distance trains will be partially cancelled, and approximately 11 others will be either regulated or rescheduled.
Advisory for Passengers:
Commuters are advised to plan their journeys in advance, especially during the affected nights and early morning hours. It’s recommended to check the latest updates from Western Railway regarding specific train cancellations, rescheduled services, and changes in stopping patterns. The Western Railway suburban network, connecting Churchgate in South Mumbai to Dahanu Road in Palghar district, serves over 3 million daily passengers, making this maintenance work one of the most impactful in recent times.
