Marriott International has announced the signing of an agreement with Himalayan Bliss Spa & Resorts to introduce Le Méridien Rishikesh Resort & Spa, marking the brand’s entry into one of India’s most renowned spiritual and wellness destinations. The 120-key luxury resort is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2028, offering travellers a unique blend of culture, wellness and contemporary hospitality.
Located on the banks of the Ganges in Rishikesh, the upcoming resort is designed to cater to the growing demand for immersive travel experiences. As more travellers seek wellness retreats and culturally enriching destinations, Rishikesh has emerged as a preferred choice for both domestic and international visitors. Le Méridien aims to enhance this experience by combining its signature European-inspired hospitality with the city’s rich heritage, local cuisine and artistic traditions.
Commenting on the partnership, Kiran Andicot, Senior Vice President, South Asia, Marriott International, said the agreement reflects Marriott’s commitment to expanding its presence in India’s culturally and spiritually significant destinations. He added that Le Méridien’s distinctive design philosophy and immersive guest experiences would encourage travellers to explore Rishikesh at a slower, more meaningful pace.
Girish Agarwal, Designated Partner at Himalayan Bliss Spa & Resorts LLP, described the collaboration as a landmark moment for the company and Uttarakhand’s tourism sector. He said the project aligns with the state’s vision of strengthening tourism infrastructure and is expected to generate hundreds of direct employment opportunities while boosting the local economy.
The proposed resort will feature 120 guest rooms and suites designed with Le Méridien’s signature mid-century modern aesthetic while incorporating elements inspired by Rishikesh’s cultural heritage. Guests can look forward to an all-day dining restaurant, lobby lounge, meeting and event spaces, a fitness centre, swimming pool, spa, kids’ club and an activity centre.
Strategically positioned near iconic attractions, the resort will provide easy access to Laxman Jhoola, The Beatles Ashram, and Triveni Ghat, famous for its evening Ganga Aarti. It will also be conveniently connected by road, with Jolly Grant Airport located around 20 kilometres away.
The signing further strengthens Marriott International’s expanding footprint in India while reinforcing Le Méridien’s commitment to offering culturally inspired travel experiences. Once operational, Le Méridien Rishikesh Resort & Spa is expected to become a premium destination for travellers seeking luxury, wellness and authentic local experiences in the Yoga Capital of the World.
