Mumbai has taken a major step forward in specialised healthcare with the launch of the city’s first Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Craniofacial and Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Surgery at S. L. Raheja Hospital – a Fortis associate. This pioneering centre is set to provide comprehensive care for patients dealing with complex facial and jaw disorders, combining precision, advanced techniques, and patient-focused treatment under one roof.
The inauguration was attended by acclaimed actor-director Shri Mahesh Manjrekar, who stressed the importance of raising awareness about facial and jaw health. He highlighted that issues such as jaw pain, facial asymmetry, or structural deformities are often overlooked until they begin to interfere with daily life and confidence. According to him, specialised centres like this can play a critical role in early diagnosis, timely treatment, and overall quality of life improvement.
The CoE is designed to address a wide spectrum of conditions. These include jaw pain, stiffness, locking or clicking, craniofacial deformities, cleft lip and palate, facial trauma, jaw cysts and tumours, and complex facial reconstruction. By integrating minimally invasive and precision-based techniques, the centre aims not only to reduce pain but also to restore function, improve aesthetics, and speed up recovery for patients.
