In an era where technology is increasingly shaping personal decisions, AI-driven astrology is quietly emerging as a new form of emotional and decision-making support in India. A recent pilot study by iMeUsWe, a lineage-tech platform, reveals that nearly 30 per cent of consultations on its platform are now conducted through its AI-powered astrologer chatbot.
The findings highlight a significant behavioural shift. Users are no longer relying on astrology purely for predictions. Instead, they are turning to AI for instant, private, and judgment-free guidance, especially during moments of uncertainty. This trend reflects a deeper need for accessible and discreet support systems in a fast-paced digital world.
The study shows that relationship and marriage-related queries dominate user interactions, accounting for nearly 70 per cent of all AI-led consultations. This suggests that emotional clarity remains the primary driver behind the use of such platforms. Meanwhile, career and finance-related concerns make up around 20 per cent of interactions, indicating a secondary but steady demand for professional guidance.
User engagement patterns further reveal how people are integrating AI astrology into their daily routines. Activity peaks during the afternoon hours between 1 PM and 3 PM, a time often associated with immediate decision-making needs. A second surge occurs between 9 PM and 11 PM, reflecting more introspective and emotionally driven interactions, where users seek reassurance and clarity in private moments.
The platform also reports a notable gender trend, with women making up nearly 70 per cent of AI astrology users. This indicates a strong preference for tools that offer discretion, accessibility, and a safe space to discuss personal concerns. Geographically, the highest adoption is seen in urban and semi-urban regions, aligning with areas that are both digitally active and culturally connected to traditional practices like astrology.
Another key insight from the study is the changing nature of user interaction. Instead of asking single, direct questions, users are increasingly engaging in multi-message conversations. This shift points towards a growing level of trust in AI systems, as well as a move from transactional usage to more reflective and ongoing dialogue.
Arvind Subbarao, Co-founder and CEO of iMeUsWe, notes that this trend represents a broader change in how individuals seek support. According to him, AI is not replacing traditional astrologers but is complementing them by making guidance more accessible, particularly for younger, digitally native users.
As AI continues to integrate with culturally rooted practices, astrology in India is undergoing a subtle transformation. It is no longer confined to traditional consultations but is becoming part of a wider digital wellness ecosystem. This evolution reflects how age-old beliefs are adapting to modern expectations of speed, privacy, and convenience.
