Bank of Baroda has received the prestigious Rajbhasha Kirti Award for the fifth consecutive year, recognising its work towards the implementation and promotion of Hindi in banking services. For 2025-26, the bank secured the Second Prize in the category of Public Sector Banks and Financial Institutions with more than 800 employees.
The award was presented on September 14, 2026, during the Hindi Diwas 2026 celebrations and the 6th All India Rajbhasha Conference at the CIDCO Exhibition Centre in Navi Mumbai.
Dr. Debadatta Chand, Managing Director and CEO of Bank of Baroda, received the award from Union Ministers of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai and Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
Recognition for Language Services
The Rajbhasha Kirti Award recognises efforts towards the effective implementation of the official language in government-related institutions and organisations. For Bank of Baroda, the latest recognition marks another milestone in its efforts to expand language accessibility across its banking services.
Speaking about the recognition, Dr. Chand said that the award reflects the bank’s commitment to customers who prefer to access banking services in their own languages.
The bank has been working towards strengthening multilingual facilities across several customer-facing platforms. These include bob World, WhatsApp Banking, chatbots and call centres.
Focus on Multilingual Banking
As banking increasingly moves towards digital platforms, language accessibility has become an important part of customer interaction. Bank of Baroda has been expanding its multilingual services across digital and assisted banking channels to make its services accessible to a wider customer base.
The bank has also introduced bob SAMVAD, an AI-powered initiative aimed at supporting customer interactions. The initiative is part of the bank’s wider focus on using technology to improve the customer experience.
The expansion of language services is particularly relevant for customers who may be more comfortable using banking facilities in their preferred Indian language rather than relying only on English.
Five Years of Recognition
Bank of Baroda’s latest Rajbhasha Kirti Award continues a five-year run of recognition. During this period, the bank has received three First Prizes and two Second Prizes under the Rajbhasha Kirti Awards.
The bank has also received recognition from various Town Official Language Implementation Committees, commonly known as NARAKAS.
Including these awards, Bank of Baroda has received a total of 20 awards during the current year, according to the bank.
Language and Digital Banking
The recognition comes at a time when banks are increasingly using digital platforms to reach customers across different regions and language groups. Mobile banking, WhatsApp services, chatbots and call centres have become important points of interaction between banks and customers.
For Bank of Baroda, the continued focus on multilingual banking combines its Rajbhasha initiatives with its broader digital services. The fifth consecutive Rajbhasha Kirti Award highlights the bank’s sustained work in this area and adds another recognition to its recent achievements.
