Mumbai is set to host its first Deaf Livelihood Fair 2025, a unique employment initiative aimed at empowering the deaf community. Organised by the Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (Divyangjan) [AYJNISHD (D)] in collaboration with Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (MSU Baroda), the fair will take place on 22nd February 2025, from 10 AM to 4 PM, at AYJNISHD, Bandra West, Mumbai.

The fair will connect deaf job seekers with employers, skill development programmes, and business opportunities. Attendees can explore career paths, participate in interviews, and engage in networking with industry leaders. Indian Sign Language (ISL) interpreters will be available throughout the event to ensure accessibility.

Employment and Inclusion on the Agenda

The event will feature participation from major companies, including Dr. Reddy’s, Amazon, Big Basket, BSE, Cure International India, and Youth4Jobs, among others. It will focus on:

  • Job placements with leading employers
  • Entrepreneurship opportunities for deaf individuals
  • Inclusive workplace policies and networking sessions
  • Self-employment support through start-ups and collaborations

This initiative is a step towards bridging the employment gap and promoting economic inclusion for persons with hearing disabilities. Employers, recruiters, and entrepreneurs committed to workforce diversity are encouraged to participate.
