Mumbai, 20 August 2026: Drivn, an electric vehicle leasing platform focused on heavy commercial fleets, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Motors to explore leasing-based deployment of electric commercial vehicles across India. The partnership aims to make electric trucks more accessible to fleet operators by combining Tata Motors’ electric commercial vehicle portfolio with Drivn’s customised leasing and financing solutions.

The collaboration is designed to address some of the key challenges that currently affect the adoption of electric commercial vehicles. These include high upfront costs, financing requirements, deployment timelines and the need for reliable operational support. Through customised leasing models, Drivn aims to provide fleet operators with a simpler and more flexible way to transition from conventional vehicles to electric mobility.

Drivn to Offer Customised Leasing Solutions

Drivn provides bespoke operating lease solutions designed specifically for commercial fleet operators. Its approach brings together financing, vehicle deployment and charging infrastructure to make fleet electrification more practical.

Commercial operators often need to consider several factors before adopting electric vehicles, including the initial investment, vehicle utilisation, operating costs, charging availability and maintenance. By offering leasing solutions tailored to these requirements, Drivn aims to reduce the financial and operational barriers associated with fleet electrification.

As part of the partnership, Drivn plans to support the deployment of Tata Motors’ electric commercial vehicles through customised financing structures. The company has also set an ambitious target of deploying more than 1,000 electric trucks over the next two years.

Tata Motors Strengthens Electric Commercial Vehicle Portfolio

Tata Motors has been playing a key role in India’s transition towards electric commercial mobility. The company has developed a broad electric commercial vehicle portfolio and works with fleet operators across vehicle performance, uptime, charging and financing requirements.

The company has recently introduced a comprehensive range of electric trucks spanning 7 to 55 tonnes under its Tata Trucks.ev brand. Built on the new I-MOEV (Intelligent Modular Electric Vehicle) Architecture, the trucks are designed for a wide range of commercial applications.

These applications include e-commerce logistics, construction material transportation and port operations. The portfolio is aimed at supporting businesses that require efficient and sustainable transportation solutions while maintaining the performance and reliability expected from commercial vehicles.

The expansion of electric trucks is also supported by the development of charging infrastructure and Tata Motors’ nationwide service network. Together, these elements are intended to make electric commercial vehicle adoption more practical for businesses operating across different regions and use cases.

Focus on Lower Barriers to EV Adoption

Commenting on the partnership, Rajesh Kaul, Vice President & Business Head – Trucks, Tata Motors Ltd., said that the company is committed to making clean mobility more accessible and supporting India’s transition towards sustainable transportation.

He said the partnership with Drivn would help make electric trucks more accessible to customers. He also highlighted Tata Motors’ focus on performance, reliability and operating economics as fleet operators move towards zero-emission technologies.

Manav Bansal, CEO and Co-founder of Drivn, said that commercial viability is essential for electric fleet adoption to grow at scale. He noted that while interest in electric vehicles is increasing among fleet operators, wider adoption depends on making the transition practical and accessible.

According to Bansal, the partnership combines Tata Motors’ electric vehicle portfolio with Drivn’s leasing model to address barriers such as upfront costs and deployment timelines. The planned deployment of more than 1,000 electric trucks over the next two years is expected to provide fleet operators with a more scalable route towards electrification.

Building an Integrated Fleet Ecosystem

Alpna Jain, Co-founder and Chief Business Officer at Drivn, said that large-scale electric fleet adoption requires a strong ecosystem. She highlighted the importance of combining vehicle maintenance, uptime support and technology that can help monitor and improve fleet efficiency.

The partnership therefore goes beyond vehicle financing. By bringing together vehicle supply, leasing, maintenance, operational support and technology, the two companies aim to create a more integrated approach to electric fleet deployment.

As businesses across India increasingly assess cleaner and more efficient transportation options, partnerships that reduce financial and operational barriers could play an important role in accelerating commercial EV adoption. The Drivn-Tata Motors collaboration seeks to support this transition by providing fleet operators with greater access to electric trucks and customised leasing solutions.

With a target of more than 1,000 electric truck deployments over the next two years, the partnership marks a significant step towards expanding electric commercial mobility in India. It also reflects the growing focus on practical, scalable and financially accessible solutions for businesses seeking to move towards zero-emission transportation.
