The GE Aerospace Foundation has expanded its Next Engineers programme to Bengaluru, India, to inspire students to pursue careers in engineering. This expansion aims to build a strong local talent pipeline.

The programme will collaborate with local academic institutions. GE Aerospace’s Bengaluru facility, with its strong engineering and manufacturing presence, will lead the initiative. The company plans to announce an academic partner by late 2025.
Alok Nanda, Chief Technology Officer at GE Aerospace’s India Technology Centre, stated that the facility has worked with academia for over 25 years. He added that this expansion will provide more opportunities for students to explore engineering careers.
GE Aerospace chose Bengaluru based on its employee base, the strength of its manufacturing presence, and the anticipated programme engagement. The company’s facility in India supports the full lifecycle of its products and has a long history of volunteering in STEM education.
Meghan Thurlow, President of the GE Aerospace Foundation, shared that the foundation has already reached nearly 22,000 students worldwide. She expressed excitement about bringing the programme to Bengaluru and helping more students explore engineering.
The GE Aerospace Foundation has committed $20 million through 2030 to expand the programme. This funding will support students from middle school to college who are interested in engineering careers. The Next Engineers programme operates in Cincinnati, Greenville, Johannesburg, Staffordshire, and Warsaw.
