India’s first virtual zoo has opened its doors in Indore, giving visitors a chance to experience wildlife through cutting-edge technology instead of traditional enclosures. The new attraction, launched at Kamala Nehru Prani Sangrahalaya, features a 14D cinema, a digital jungle safari and a 3D dome theatre.

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav inaugurated the facility on Sunday and watched a film with school children at the 14D theatre. The project has been developed by the Indore Municipal Corporation under the public-private partnership (PPP) model at a cost of around ₹4.5 crore.

Spread across nearly 8,000 square feet, the virtual zoo aims to make learning about wildlife more interactive and engaging. The digital jungle safari offers a 360-degree virtual tour of forests and animal habitats, allowing visitors to experience the thrill of a jungle safari through immersive technology.

One of the biggest highlights is the 14D cinema, which combines moving seats with special effects such as water sprays, wind, fog, bubbles and vibrations to create a realistic movie experience. The theatre also features a waterproof screen imported from South Korea.

Apart from the cinema and safari, visitors can explore themed attractions including a gorilla-shaped entrance, neon-lit jungle pathways, a glow garden, a roar-simulating maze and a mirror bridge featuring a Hanuman hologram.

Officials say the initiative is designed to promote environmental awareness among children while encouraging learning through technology. It also offers tourists a new way to understand wildlife conservation without entering natural forests.

The virtual zoo is open from Tuesday to Sunday between 10 am and 6 pm. It hosts 16 shows every day, with each session lasting around 20 minutes. A single ticket priced at ₹70 gives visitors access to the 14D theatre, digital jungle safari and 3D dome theatre.
