Samsung India has released a documentary showcasing young innovators tackling arsenic contamination in drinking water. The film, Solve for Tomorrow, premiered on JioHotstar on 28 February, coinciding with National Science Day.

The documentary follows the journeys of two winning teams-Eco Tech Innovator and METAL- who developed groundbreaking water purification solutions. The Solve for Tomorrow initiative, Samsung’s STEM-driven competition, aims to foster innovation among youth and address pressing social challenges.
Young Minds Take on India’s Water Crisis
Arsenic-contaminated water affects millions in India. This year’s Solve for Tomorrow winners tackled this issue with unique approaches.
Team Eco Tech Innovator, led by high school student Sayed Safrahan Ullah Khabir from Assam, designed a non-electric, cost-effective filtration system. His innovation removes arsenic while converting contaminants into valuable byproducts.
Meanwhile, Team METAL, comprising Arpit Kumar, Shambhavi Sinha, and Abhijeet Kumar, developed a three-stage filtration process to purify groundwater. Their technology is currently being incubated at IIT Delhi’s Foundation for Innovation & Technology Transfer (FITT).
“In Bihar, every 20 kilometres, someone suffers from arsenic poisoning,” said Arpit Kumar. “Our solution aims to change that.”
Samsung’s Role in Nurturing Innovators
Since its launch in India in 2022, Solve for Tomorrow has evolved into a nationwide movement, attracting over 6,000 participants. The programme provides mentorship, funding, and exposure to refine innovative ideas.
This year’s winners, Eco Tech Innovator and METAL, received ₹25 lakh and ₹50 lakh, respectively, to advance their solutions. Their work underscores the power of youth-driven innovation in solving India’s most urgent challenges.
Samsung continues to champion young problem-solvers, proving that impactful change can emerge from any corner of the country. The documentary offers a powerful glimpse into how these innovators are shaping a better future for millions.
