The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has overhauled its online application system for the 2025 Civil Services Preliminary Examination following feedback from candidates about technical issues.

In a recent notice, the UPSC announced that certain fields in the One-Time Registration (OTR) profile are now editable until the final submission of the application and during the correction window. These fields include:
- Change of Name
- Gender
- Minority Status
- Class 10th Board Examination Roll Number
However, specific details remain non-editable to maintain data integrity. These are:
- Name (as per Class X)
- Date of Birth
- Father’s Name
- Mother’s Name
- Mobile Number
- Email ID
For candidates who have lost access to their registered mobile number but still have access to their registered email ID, the UPSC has provided a solution. They can apply for a change in their mobile number, and an OTP will be sent to the registered email ID for verification. Similarly, if access to the registered email ID is lost but the mobile number is active, candidates can request a change in the email ID, with verification done via an OTP sent to the registered mobile number.
In cases where both the registered mobile number and email ID are inaccessible, candidates must contact the Commission directly to make necessary changes.
These adjustments aim to streamline the application process and address the technical challenges previously faced by aspirants.
