On Friday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made bold allegations against Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi. Sarma claimed that Gogoi’s children aren’t Indian citizens. He also questioned the MP’s 15-day trip to Pakistan, suggesting there’s more to the visit than meets the eye.
Sarma stated, “I have proof that Gaurav Gogoi’s children are not Indian citizens. We are also looking into what he did during his 15 days in Pakistan. There are no tourist destinations there; it’s a hub for terrorists.” The Chief Minister further implied that Gogoi and businessman Robert Vadra are more concerned about Pakistan than India.
Sarma’s Cryptic Post and Public Reaction
This statement came a day after Sarma’s cryptic post on social media, where he said, “I can confirm that the minor children of one MP from Assam are not Indian citizens. But this is just the beginning. Much more will be revealed.”
Gogoi, however, has yet to respond publicly to these claims. Just days ago, Sarma raised concerns on social media about Gogoi’s alleged visit to Pakistan. Sarma asked, “Did you visit Pakistan for 15 days? What was the purpose of that trip?”
Sarma Raises Questions on Pakistan-Based NGO
Sarma didn’t stop there. He questioned why a Pakistan-based organisation was paying a salary to Gogoi’s wife, who works in India. This raised suspicions about potential foreign involvement in activities happening within India.
In his own response, Gogoi challenged Sarma’s claims, asking if the Chief Minister would resign if he fails to prove his allegations. He also turned the tables, demanding answers about Sarma’s own family and the coal mafia in Assam.
Sarma’s Continued Accusations
Despite the back-and-forth, Sarma continues to stand by his accusations. He promised to reveal more evidence, stating that the public will soon learn of Gogoi’s connections to Pakistan. The Assam CM also took the opportunity to clarify his own position, saying, “Neither I nor my family have ever visited Pakistan, nor would we accept money from Pakistani organisations.”
As the exchange continues, the political tensions in Assam show no signs of easing. Sarma’s strong words and promises of more revelations ensure that this issue remains in the public eye.
